Police: Medford Man Arrested For Leaving 13-Month-Old Son Alone In Apartment

Child was alone in a basement apartment, police said.

A Medford man has been arrested on charges of child endangerment for allegedly leaving his 13-month-son alone in his apartment Sunday afternoon, Suffolk County Police said.

According to police, officers responded to a 911 call reporting a crying infant at a home on Little Treasure Drive in Medford around 1:30 p.m. When police arrived, crying from a child was heard from the basement apartment of a multi-dwelling house. Officers forced their way into the apartment after realizing it was empty, and found the boy crying alone in a crib, police said. Officer Dena Miceli comforted the child, checked his health and changed his soiled diaper. Miceli and a neighbor cared for the boy until his mother arrived and took the child’s custody.

Police say the officers discovered that the boy’s father, Kelly Voss, 44, was supposed to be taking care of his son during a scheduled weekend visitation. Voss was arrested after he returned to the apartment 40 minutes after officers first arrived, police said.
