Police: Man With Knife Robs Ronkonkoma Subway, Arrested 10 Minutes Later

Farmingville man charged in robbery of sandwich joint next to train station, police say.

A man with a knife robbed a Ronkonkoma Subway Saturday night, but police say the robber didn't make it very far. 

Matthew Arons, 27, of Farmingville, was arrested and charged with first degree robbery 10 minutes after the robbery at the sandwich joint, located at 43 Railroad Avenue, next to the LIRR station. 

Arons displayed a knife and stole money from the store at 8:49 p.m. Saturday, police said.

Arons was arraigned in First District Court in Central Islip on Sunday. He is being held on $50,000 cash bail or $150,000 bond. 

According to court records, Arons was also arrested in March on a misdemeanor heroin possession charge.
