Police: Lake Ronkonkoma TD Bank Robbed

Second robbery at the bank in the past two months.

The Lake Ronkonkoma TD Bank was robbed Tuesday afternoon, according to Suffolk Police.

Police say a man entered the bank, located at 474 Portion Road, demanded cash from a teller and threatened the use of a gun around 1:45 p.m.

The teller complied and the robber fled the bank on foot westbound on Portion Road, police said. The robber is described as about 5-foot-10 with a slim build. He was wearing a black mask and a yellow raincoat at the time of the robbery.

As Suffolk County Police Pattern Crime Unit detectives continue to investigate, detectives are asking anyone with information on the robbery to call anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-220-TIPS.

The Lake Ronkonkoma TD Bank was also robbed in November.

This area is going crazy! I hope he is caught quickly - I thought we were finished with these robberies since the nut-jobs were caught last week. How do people still think it is 1950 and they can get away with this? No one gets away with anything today!!!

Are the cops investigating the employees? I think TD needs to hire an armed guard.

Marlene: I think you are sadly mistaken. Recently in Newsday, the number of unsolved homicides in Nassau and Suffolk was sizable. I recall the number being in the 30-40% range which belies the old "crime doesn't pay" fable. You would think with modern tools like dna the number would be much smaller. Bank robberies on the other hand should have a higher rate of being solved because they take place in broad daylight with camera's all around. I guess it all depends on how cleverly they disguise themselves and luck. In this case they should be looking for either a school crossing guard or a large bumblebee.
