Police Investigating Death of Holbrook Boy

Died in motor vehicle accident in Brentwood.

A motor vehicle crash that killed a physically-challenged 12-year-old Holbrook boy in Brentwood Wednesday is being investigated, according to police.

Robert Giffen, 42, of Holbrook, was driving a 2000 Chevrolet van eastbound on the Long Island Expressway when he lost control of the van, which veered across the lanes of traffic, struck the guardrail on the right shoulder and overturned, police said.

The boy, who was seated in the rear, was partially ejected out of the rear driver’s side window. He was transported by Suffolk County Police helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center, where he later died from his injuries.
