Police: Holbrook Man Caught Stealing Packages From Neighbors' Doorsteps

Jaquan Casserly, 25, was held by a neighbor at the scene until police arrived.

A Holbrook man was arrested Thursday evening after police say he stole packages from his neighbors' doorsteps. 

Police said Jaquan Casserly, 25, was one of two men seen by neighbors stealing packages within the Woodgate Village condominium complex located on Springmeadow Drive. 

Casserly was "detained" by a nearby resident until police arrived, police said. Police are still searching for the second suspect.

Officers on the scene recovered numerous stolen items and empty packaging, police said. Canine officers also responded and recovered proceeds that were discarded in the rear of the complex, police said.

Casserly was arrested around 5:30 p.m. and charged with five counts of fifth degree criminal possession of stolen property. He will be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip at a later date.
