Police: Group Charged With 11 Commercial Burglaries

Five people have been arrested and charged in connection with a series of commercial burglaries, one residential burglary and a theft at the Islip Town Impound Yard over the past four months, Suffolk Police said Thursday. 

Following an investigation by Third Squad detectives into 11 commercial burglaries in West Islip, East Islip, Islip, Bay Shore, Bayport, Sayville and Deer Park and one Islip residence from October to January during which money, cell phones and computers were stolen, four males were arrested, police said. 

Three of the suspects, along with a fifth person, were also responsible for entering the impound yard in Bay Shore and stealing batteries and other items from vehicles being stored there, police said. 

The following people were arrested:

 •  Kevin Alver, 21, of Islip Terrace, is charged with 11 counts third degree burglary, one count of second degree burglary, one count of seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, one count of petty larceny and one count of criminal trespass.

•  Christopher Craft, 22, of Bay Shore, is charged with 12 counts of third degree burglary and one count of second degree burglary. 

•  Kenneth Dillman, 18, of East Islip, is charged with one count of second degree burglary, one count of petty larceny and one count of criminal trespass. 

•  Thomas Miller, 17, of Lindenhurst, is charged with one count of third degree burglary, one count of petty larceny and one count of criminal trespass.

• A 17-year-old female from Lindenhurst is charged with one count of petty larceny and one count of criminal trespass.

Alver, Craft, Dillman and Miller were held overnight and scheduled to be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Central Islip.
