A Lake Ronkonkoma man with 23 suspensions on his license was arrested on a DWI charge Thursday morning, police said.
Kurt Knoernschild, 53, was driving with a revoked license, stemming from prior DWI convictions, when he was pulled over by an officer in Mt. Sinai around 1:45 a.m., police said.
Officer Steven Turner of the SCPD's Safe-T Section observed Knoernschild's 1994 Chevrolet pickup truck make a left turn through a red light at the intersection of County Road 83 and Coram-Mt. Sinai Road, police said.
Turner watched Knoernschild drive "erratically" on Route 25 before pulling the vehicle over near Westgate Drive, police said.
Knoernschild was arrested and charged with felony driving while intoxicated and felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. His truck was seized because of prior DWI convictions, police said.
Knoernschild, held overnight at the Sixth Precinct in Selden, is due to be arraigned Thursday in First District Court in Central Islip.
