Pedestrian Hit, Killed in Farmingville

Accident took place on Horseblock Road and Woodycrest Drive.

A pedestrian was killed in a motor vehicle crash in Farmingville Monday evening.

The driver of a 2004 Nissan Xterra was traveling east on Horseblock Road when he struck Richard Carlson, 53, of Copiague, who entered the roadway and attempted to cross the road, west of Woodycrest Drive, at approximately 6:50 p.m., police officials said.

The pedestrian was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was pronounced dead at 7:21 p.m.

This area of the accident is right opposite Bald Hill Beverage, and just west of the Farmingville Animal Hospital. According to one eye witness, it appeared that the ambulance crew was doing CPR inside of the ambulance. 

The Nissan was impounded for a safety check and the investigation is continuing.
