Neubert Wins Farmingville Commissioner Election

Of the four fire departments located in the Sachem community, only Farmingville had an actual election for an open commissioner's seat.

Bob Neubert defeated Michelle Mulnard-Curtin in a race between two long-time volunteers.

As for the other departments, Charles Vermilyea ran unopposed in Holbrook and has been a commissioner since 1996; Richard Lutz ran unopposed for his second consecutive five-year term in Ronkonkoma; and James Bruckner ran unopposed for his first term in Holtsville.

In Ronkonkoma, a proposition failed which called to decrease the number of years a volunteer can earn from 38 to 30 years for annual savings of $50,000.
