Motorcyclist in Critical Condition After Collision With Van on LIE

Motorcycle rear-ended van on the east bound exit ramp at Exit 60.

A 52-year-old man is in critical condition at Stony Brook University Medical Center after colliding with a minivan as the two vehicles were approaching exit 60 on the Long Island Expressway, police say.

The accident occurred around 5:30 this evening. According to the preliminary report the motorcycle hit the back of the mini van while traffic was stop and go. The rider was transported to Stony Brook University Hospital via ambulance by the with head injuries. The driver of the minivan was not injured.

So far no charges have been filed, but the investigation is continuing. Patch will have more on this story as it develops.
