Motor Carrier Safety Section to Conduct Fuel Truck Inspections in Holtsville

Police alerts of multi-agency effort to check compliance.

The Suffolk County Police Department’s Motor Carrier Safety Section will be conducting an inter-agency fuel oil truck and motor fuel tanker safety checkpoint on March 8 in Holtsvillem.

Officers working the checkpoint will stop all passing fuel trucks to ensure they are in compliance with driver license requirements, truck safety requirements, oil delivery meters and tax requirements, the police department said in a statement.

The agencies participating in the checkpoint include the New York State Department of Transportation, the Suffolk County Executive’s Office of Consumer Affairs, the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation, the New York State Office of Tax Enforcement - Petroleum, Alcohol and Tobacco Bureau and the Internal Revenue Service - Fuel Tax Compliance Unit.
