UPDATE: 66-Year Old Man Hit in Ronkonkoma, Driver Charged with DWI

Driver also had active arrest warrant prior to incident.

A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle whose driver was intoxicated in Ronkonkoma Wednesday afternoon.

Philip Chase, 37, was driving a 1992 Dodge near Avenue B and 4th Street, when his vehicle hit a 66-year-old male pedestrian from Saint James, police said.

The man was given first aid at the scene, including CPR and the use of an automated external defibrillator by Sixth Precinct Patrol officer Simone Ross.

The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center by Ronkonkoma Fire Department Ambulance.

According to Suffolk Police, Chase, who lives on Avenue B, had an active arrest warrant and was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, and Aggravated Unlicensed Operation.  He is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on March 3.
