Police: 38 License Suspensions Leads to Arrest

Sayville man arrested in Farmingville Thursday.

A Sayville man was arrested in Farmingville for having his license suspended or revoked more than three dozen times during the past three decades, according to Suffolk County Police.

Suffolk Police was conducting motor vehicle safety inspections at the Park and Ride on County Road 83, north of the Long Island Expressway, in Farmingville Thursday morning when Joseph Leon, 55, was stopped, police said.

A license check was conducted and it was determined that Leon had his license revoked or suspended a total of 38 times dating back to 1977.

Leon, 55, was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and will be arraigned on a later date, according to police.

Police said the truck Leon was driving, which is owned by LI Discount Tree Service Inc., was placed out of service for numerous safety violations and impounded.
