Lakeland Fire Department Gets Useful Donation

Ronkonkoma-based volunteer house gets junk cars from area business to help with victim extrication drills.

The Lakeland Fire Department in Ronkonkoma was recently the recipient of two vehicles from Medford-based Gershow Recycling in order for the volunteers to run extrication exercises.

The scrap cars were used in drills held on September 24, with members of the local Fire, Rescue and EMS crews. During the exercise, firefighters extricated a “victim” from a car that was purportedly involved in a motor vehicle accident by using the Jaws of Life.

Pictured above are the members of the Lakeland Fire Department standing in front of one of the two donated cars.
