Holtsville Man Hits Pedestrian in Hauppauge

Charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

A Holtsville man was arrested Friday for driving without a license after his vehicle struck a pedestrian in Hauppauge.

Jaime Ceron, 37, was driving a 2004 Mazda sedan west on Route 347 in Hauppauge when he struck Fredi Yanes, who was in the road close to 2 a.m., police said.

According to police, Ceron was charged with aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. He was scheduled for arraignment at First District Court in Central Islip on May 13.

Yanes, 19, of Glen Cove, was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition, police said.

The investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone with information to contact the Fourth Squad at 631-854-8452.
