Holtsville Fire Department Dedicates Steel Beams from WTC

Ceremony commemorates those lost on September 11, 2001, installs new plaque at site donated by Girl Scouts.

These two steel beams, arranged to look like the Twin Towers of which they were once a part, were officially dedicated tonight in a solemn ceremony at the Holtsville Fire Department.

The beams were acquired after two years of administrative paper work and cooperation with the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. The dedication ceremony included a speech from Todd Metro, former chief of the Holtsville Fire Department, and a ceremonial plaque placed at the base of the steel beams that reads:

"As this steel once served to strengthen the towers from which it fell, may it now serve to strengthen our resolve to never forget those we lost on September 11, 2001."
