Holbrook Man Dies in LIE Crash

A Holbrook man was ejected from his SUV Monday evening and died when his car crashed on the Long Island Expressway, according to the Suffolk County Sheriffs office.

Denis Johnston, 45, was driving his Ford Explorer and lost control around 9:15 p.m. in Ronkonkoma near Exit 59 on the LIE heading eastbound.

Johnston was treated at the scene and pronounced dead two hours later at Stony Brook University Medical Center.

He was the only one involved in the crash.

“He lost control and veered out of his lane,” said Chief Michael Sharkey. “He overcorrected to come back in and caused the vehicle to roll over.”
