Holbrook Man Arrested In Wrench Attack

Police say assault stemmed from confrontation with a group of people gathering near his home.

Police arrested a Holbrook man they say struck another man in the face with a wrench, seriously injuring him. 

According to police the incident happened on August 10 at around 9:30 p.m. when they were called to a location on Windermere Drive. Police say Christopher Dowd, 22, a resident on the street had confronted a group of people that were gathered near his home. At some point during the confrontation, police say he threatened one person with the wrench and then struck another male in the lip. 

The victim was transported to Brookhaven Memorial Hospital where he received stitches from the blow.

Police placed Dowd into custody for the alleged assault. He was also arrested for menacing and resisting arrest.

According to the Unified Courts database, Dowd is being charged with assault with intent to cause physical injury with a weapon, a Class D felony.

Dowd is currently out on $1,000 bond. He is due back in court to face the charges on October 3.
