Holbrook Man Arrested For DWI, Drug Possession

The defendant allegedly had 2.8 grams of cocaine on him.

A Holbrook man was arrested Friday night in Bellmore for drug possession and DWI after allegedly speeding on the Southern State Parkway.

According to state police, at 10:59 p.m., troopers from the state police barracks in Farmingdale stopped a red Mercedes for speeding. The driver was doing 81 mph in a 55 mph zone on the eastbound side of the Southern State Parkway near exit 25.

While interviewing the driver, Matthew Bunora, 37, of Holbrook, troopers detected a strong odor of alcohol, police said. Bunora failed sobriety tests and was subsequently arrested for DWI.

Police said the Holbrook man was also in possession of 2.8 grams of cocaine.

Bunora produced a positive breath sample of .13 percent blood alcohol content (BAC). He was charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree (D Felony), DWI and traffic violations.
