Garage Explodes in Holtsville

Two injured in midnight blast.

Three were injured in a garage explosion that echoed through a Holtsville neighborhood late Friday night.

Kevin Mazurkiewicz, 22, was spray painting a car next to a space heater without ventilation in his garage on Pearl Avenue at approximately 11:51 p.m. causing the blast, according to Suffolk County Police.

According to one source, Mazurkiewicz has second and third degree burns on about 60 percent of his body.

His girlfriend, Jennifer Connors, 28, was also in the garage and injured. The victims father, Ronald Mazurkiewicz, 55, was hurt trying to assist. He sustained non-life threatening injuries.

They were all taken to Stony Brook University Medical Center.
