Fireworks Confiscated from Ronkonkoma Home
Air traffic controller has more than 30 cartons taken away from Carl Street residence.
More than 30 cartons of fireworks have been confiscated from a Ronkonkoma garage this week, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.
District Attorney Thomas Spota said Kenneth Felser of Carl Street is fortunate there wasn’t a catastrophic explosion because of the careless manner in which Felser stored the items, which is not far from a middle school.
Confiscated were boxes of Jumbo Jet Rockets, Thunder Balls, Crystal Geyser and Old American Fountain brand explosives in the cluttered garage behind his home, the district attorney’s office said.

“We’re fortunate we didn’t have a disaster on our hands considering the careless manner in which the defendant piled this highly flammable material next to a container of gasoline and within feet of a second gas can,” Spota said in a statement
Felser, 31, an air traffic controller employed by the FAA facility in Ronkonkoma, will be arraigned in first district court on August 16. He is charged with unlawful dealing with fireworks, a misdemeanor. The value of the seized fireworks is approximately $5,000.
