FDNY's Ron Corsale Shooting for Commissioner's Seat in Ronkonkoma

Current captain in Ronkonkoma FD wants higher role of authority.

Ron Corsale is looking to take the next step in his fire service career by being elected as a fire commissioner in the Lake Ronkonkoma Fire District. He’s running against incumbent commissioner and ex-chief Fred Stahl in the election that will take place on Tuesday, December 13.

Corsale, 27, is a current captain of the fire department and a member of the FDNY in Manhattan’s Ladder 16.

Corsale said his mindset is to get guys who are out there on the trucks and on the street involved with higher roles in the district.

“I see an avenue where I can help out the district,” he said.

Corsale was drawn to being a New York City fireman after 9/11.

“I saw the comradery,” he said. “In the aftermath of that I wanted to be a fireman.”

He said as the district gets larger he wants to make an emphasis on fire safety and rescue response.

“The more people we have, the more calls we have and it puts a tax on our members as a whole,” he said. “I am thinking for the future of the fire serve, while not interrupting people’s tax dollars.”

Corsale is an active participant with the FDNY Center of Terrorism and Disaster Preparedness, co-chair for the fundraising committee at Ronkonkoma, and has an Associate’s Degree in Fire Protection Technology from Suffolk Community College.

A lifelong resident of Lake Ronkonkoma, Corsale graduated from Sachem in 2003.

Elections will be held on Tuesday from 5-9 p.m. at the Ronkonkoma Fire Department, located at the corner of Hawkins Avenue and Portion Road.

Corsale is also hosting a pre-election party at the new D19 restaurant on Hawkins Avenue on Sunday. Check out the flyer in the gallery above for more information.

Referendum vote: Aside from the commissioner election, tax payers are also able to vote on a referendum to approve borrowing $980,000 to purchase two new fire trucks. The purchases are mandates that the department has to comply with.
