Farmingville Man Arrested for Stealing Tip Jars

Took multiple jars at area eateries, one from a 9/11 memorial fund.

A Farmingville man who stole numerous tips and donation jars from businesses throughout Brookhaven Town has been arrested, police said.

Suffolk County Police conducted an investigation into the theft of numerous tip and donation jars and arrested Laurence Reilly, 47, of Hanrahan Ave. at 10 a.m. Sunday, according to police.

Police said the investigation revealed that Reilly entered the businesses, placed an order for food and when the employees stepped away to process his orders, he walked out with the jars.

Reilly stole tip jars from Quiznos in Medford, and China 4 Restaurant in Holbrook. He also took a 9/11 First Responders charity fund jar from a 7-Eleven located on North Ocean Avenue in Farmingville.

Reilly was charged with three counts of Petit Larceny and will be arraigned tomorrow at First District Court in Central Islip, police said.
