DA: Suspected Drug Dealer Shot at Gas Station

Suffolk DA Heroin Task Force investigator shot suspect near Mobil.

A suspected drug dealer was shot Thursday evening at a gas station on the Long Island Expressway service road at Exit 61, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s office.

The suspect was shot by an undercover Suffolk County District Attorney Heroin Task Force investigator during an exchange of gunfire at the Mobil gas station at the corner of Expressway Drive North and Patchogue-Holbrook Road in Holbrook.

According to Task Force detectives at the scene, the suspect fired his weapon at undercover officers during a drug sale.

An undercover member of the task force returned fire and shot the suspect, according to the district attorney’s office.

The suspect survived and was transported to a nearby hospital.

The investigation of the shooting incident is ongoing.

As of midnight law enforcement from the Suffolk County Police Department, Suffolk County Sheriff's Office and New York State Troopers were still occupying an active crime scene at the location.
