Crimes Nearby: Man Facing Murder Charge; Road Rage Incident

Suffolk County Police on Monday arrested a man and charged him with second degree murder in connection with the death of a Central Islip man.

Aston Barth, 33, was taken into custody and arraigned on Monday in First District Court in Central Islip.

According to police, the body of an unidentified victim was found in the closet of a home at 1270 Ferndale Blvd. in Central Islip. The victim was taken to the Suffolk County Medical Examiner’s Office where an autopsy was performed. 

• Man Arrested in Road Rage Incident

Suffolk County Police arrested a man and charged him for allegedly displaying what appeared to be a gun at another motorist in Farmingville on Tuesday.

Just before 12 p.m., police received a 911 call from a motorist claiming another motorist flashed what appeared to be a handgun and pointed it at him after a traffic dispute on Nicolls Road near the Long Island Expressway.

A Highway Patrol officer contacted the victim to get a description of the vehicle and suspect. The descriptions as well as license plate number were shared with other law enforcement agencies.

The license plate number indicated the car, a gray 2012 Volkswagen four-door sedan is registered to an address in Northport.  A Northport Village Police officer stopped a vehicle that fit the description and detained the suspect, Brian Deuchar D’Angelis, until Suffolk County Police Highway Patrol Officer James Weik arrived, police said.

The victim was also brought to the scene and identified Deuchar D’Angelis as the suspect. The Volkswagen was impounded for evidence, and an imitation pistol was recovered by police.

Deuchar D’Angelis, 36, of Center Moriches was arrested and brought to the Sixth Precinct, where he was held overnight. He was charged with Menacing 2nd Degree and Criminal Possession of a Weapon 4th Degree.

• Best Buy Employees Help Nab Suspect 

Suffolk County Police arrested two men on Sunday, December 23, after Best Buy Geek Squad employees observed the men breaking into vehicles in the Gateway Plaza parking lot in Patchogue this afternoon.

According to police, the store employees were in the Gateway Plaza parking lot, 499 Sunrise Highway North Service Road, when they allegedly observed a suspicious man look into a Ford Explorer, open the door and remove an item at approximately 3 p.m. 

The employees, who work at the Best Buy located in the Gateway Shopping Center, saw the driver of a Dodge Stratus pick up the suspect, who put the stolen item into the trunk of the vehicle. The two drove away and parked elsewhere and began walking throughout the crowded parking lot that had heavy car traffic and holiday shoppers.

Based on a description provided by the employees, police said Fifth Precinct Police Officer Michael Ferrara located the man, Michael Diorio, who allegedly broke into the Ford. Officers Lauren Ruggiero and David Kolesar located the driver of the Stratus, Justin Skura, who was walking around the parking lot when he was located. The stolen item, a GPS, was found in Skura’s Stratus, which Officer Bryan Lawrence located in the parking lot, police said.

Diorio, 23, of, Medford, was charged with Petit Larceny and Criminal Possession of a Hypodermic Needle.  Skura, 22, of Wisteria Circle, Bellport, was charged with Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 5th degree.

• Cops Seek Man Who Stole Packages

Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and Fifth Precinct officers are seeking the public’s help to identify and locate the man who stole packages from a doorstep in Ronkonkoma.

Police said a man stole five packages that had been recently delivered outside of a home, located on Chestnut Avenue on December 20. The items stolen had a value of more than $120.

The suspect was described as white, approximately 40 years old, bald and clean-shaven. He was wearing a brown ski jacket and black pants.
