Crime Report: War on Mailboxes, War on Vehicles

A list of incidents in the Sachem area last week as reported by the 5th Precinct.

The following information is directly from the Suffolk County Police Department's media incidents list .  

Farmingville 

  • Police responded to an incident of criminal mischief August 5 on Pine Air Avenue at around midnight. According to the report a black male was seen on foot knocking over mailboxes along the street.
  • An incident of criminal mischief and assault took place on Hofstra Drive at around 10:45 p.m. on August 3. Police were called to a scene where aproximately 10 youths were in a fight. Baseball bats were involved in the melee according to the report.
  • An incident of harrassment and assault took place on Horseblock Road on August 5 at approximately 7:30 p.m.
  • An incident of criminal mischief took place on Knollcrest Avenue on August 3 at 2:10 a.m.
  • Police responded to a criminal mischief to a motor vehicle on Crestwood Lane around midnight.
  • Police answered a call for harrassment on August 1 at around 8:45 a.m. on Willow Avenue, when a husband allegedly choked his wife and struck his 24-year-old daughter.

Holbrook

  • An incident of criminal mischief took place on the southbound lanes of Nichols Road on August 5 at approximately 1:30 p.m.
  • Police answered a call for criminal mischief to a motor vehicle on Coates Avenue on July 30 at approximately 9 p.m.
  • Police responded to a harrassment complaint on Horseshoe Drive on July 31 at 10:50 a.m. The complainant said her daughter was being harrassed by another woman with a history of psychological problems.

Holtsville 

  • On July 31 police responded to a burglary of cash, laptops and medicine from a home on North Ocean Avenue at around 9 p.m.

  • Police responded to multiple incidents of criminal mischief to vehicles on August 3 and August 4. Broken windows and other damage was done to vehicles on Louis Kossuth Avenue, Feuereisen Avenue and Glen Drive.
  • An incident of harrassment involving a violent boyfriend took place on Springdale Drive on August 1 at 5:30 p.m. The boyfriend allegedly threw his girlfriend down and stormed out of the house.
  • An incident of harrassment took place on Pond Road on August 5 at around 1:20 a.m. The complainant was being accused of assualt by a known female who was sending the complainant harrassing texts.
