Crime Report: Road Rage, War Declared on Mailboxes

A list of incidents in the Sachem area last week as reported by the 5th Precinct.

The following information is directly from the Suffolk County Police Department's media incidents list .  

Farmingville

  • Police responded to a domestic incident of harrassment on South Bicycle Path in Farmingville on July 21 at 12:45 p.m. The dispute involved the complainant's husband, who lives in the house.
  • An incident of criminal mischief took place on South Howell Avenue on July 20 at 6:00 p.m. According to the report, the property was vandalized.
  • Police responded to an incident of criminal mischief on Mount McKinley Avenue on July 17 at 10:00 p.m. The report states that criminal mischief was done to a house on that street.  

Holbrook

  • Police answered a call of repeated criminal mischief to a resident's vehicle and property on Giller Avenue on July 19. The incident, answered at 8:00 p.m. was described in the report as an ongoing problem.
  • Numerous mailboxes were vandalized or stolen in Holbrook on July 17 and 18. Police responded to calls on Lambeth Street, Leona Street, Grundy Avenue and Berdie Avenue.
  • An incident of petit larceny occurred on July 20, when a woman was arrested for shoplifting at a business on Sunrise Highway in Holbrook at 5:30 p.m.
  • Police responded to a robbery and shots fired on Cheril Drive on July 18 at 7:41 p.m. According to the report the complainants heard three shots.

Holtsville 

  • Police responded to a grand larceny on Morris Avenue in Holtsville on July 19. According to the complaint, the theft happened the night before after the complainant's vehicle was broken into.
  • An incident of criminal mischief occurred on Storm Drive on July 17 at 4:50 p.m. According to the report criminal mischief was done to a vehicle on that street.

Ronkonkoma

  • Police responded to a report of harrassment that occurred on Portion Road Avenue on July 22 at 4:30 p.m.
  • An incident of harrassment occurred on July 21 on Shelter Road at 1:30 a.m. According to the report the case involved a violent husband
  • Also on July 21 at 1:30 a.m. a man was assaulted on Portion Road. Police were called when the victim's mother filed a complaint.
  • Another assault took place on July 20 on Hawkins Avenue at 3:00 a.m.
  • A road rage incident took place on Babcock Avenue on July 20 at 3:20 p.m. A man was assaulted in that incident.
  • A woman called police on Deer Road claiming her boyfriend beat her. Police responded to the harrassment call on July 18 at 12:41 p.m.
