Crime Report: Burglaries, Choking Ex-Girlfriends, Shovels Are For Digging Only

A list of incidents in the Sachem area last week as reported by the 5th Precinct.

The following information is directly from the Suffolk County Police Department's media incidents list .

Farmingville

  • Police answered a call for criminal mischief to a mailbox on Lidge Drive on September 15 at approximately 8:00 a.m.
  • Police responded to a residence on Ridgedale Avenue on September 16 after a complainant claimed her ex-boyfriend choked her. When police arrived on the scene at around 5:00 p.m. the ex-boyfriend had fled in a burgundy sedan.
  • Police answered a call for grand larceny on September 11 on Cleveland Avenue at around  8:00 p.m. According to the report a Mercedes Benz was stolen, registered to Millenium Hyundai.
  • Also on September 11 police responded to a burglary on Pinelawn Avenue at around 7:15 a.m. According to the report, electronics and jewelry were among the items stolen.

  • Police answered a call for harassment on September 15 on Singingwood Drive after the complainant stated they were receiving harassing phone calls, possibly from a family member. The call came in at around 7:00 p.m.
  • Police responded to a fight on Portion Road on September 14 at around 1:00 p.m. According to the report one male subject was injured, and an ambulance was sent to his aid.
  • Police answered a call for harassment on Mill Road on September 14 after a husband claimed his wife punched him in the face. The call came in at around 11:30 p.m.

Holtsville

  • Police answered a call for grand larceny on County Road 83 on September 13 at approximately 6:00 p.m.
  • Police also answered a grand larceny call on September 12; this time on Lakeside Drive at around 10:00 p.m.
  • Police responded to a call for burglary on September 12 at around 8:30 a.m. on Country Greens Drive. According to the report, the burglars entered through the garage of the residence, and the occupant was scared and hiding inside during the ordeal.

Ronkonkoma

  • Police responded to a call for criminal mischief to a fence on Cedar Creek Road on September 16 at around 2:45 a.m. According to the report, the suspect was held at the scene until cops arrived.
  • A resident on Peconic Street woke up to find an unknown male standing in the resident's apartment. The subject fled on foot. Police responded to the burglary at around 4:30 a.m.
  • Police answered a call for harassment after a complainant said a man was hitting an older woman and then dragged her on Innis Avenue on September 16 at around 6:00 p.m.
  • Police responded to an assault on Browns Road on September 15 at around 11:30 a.m. According to the report a 16-year-old boy was attacked in the incident.
  • Police responded to a violent, intoxicated husband on Bay Avenue on September 12. The harassment call came at around 11:30 p.m.
  • Police answered a call for harassment on South Second Street on September 13. According to the report, a male subject hit the complainant with a shovel at around 2:30 p.m. The argument that ensued was overheard by dispatch over the open phone line.
