'Car Landed a Foot From Me': Freak Accident at Holbrook Karate School

No injuries reported in crash at Shinjitsu Self Defense Wednesday evening.

No one was injured in a freak accident at Holbrook's Shinjitsu Self Defense Wednesday evening.

A Ford Explorer crashed through the office and waiting area of the karate school located in the Holbrook Commons shopping center around 6:50 p.m., according to police.

"That's a car sitting in my office at work....landed 1 foot from me today," Sachem grad Vito DeMola tweeted

"My son was in the market next door," Gail Carillo wrote on Sachem Patch's Facebook page.  "The young driver was very upset and it was traumatic for all involved.

Shinjitsu Self Defense will be closed through the weekend and will reopen sometime next week, according to the school's Facebook page.

"Thank you for everyone's well wishes," the school posted on Facebook. "Luckily everyone turned out to be alright. It was an accident, and these things happen! We just have to be thankful that it is all structural and can be fixed. Thank you to the Holbrook Fire Department who was quick onto the scene and did a great job!!!!"
