Another Accident at Notorious Intersection

Police and local fire departments responded to this motor vehicle accident that sent at least two victims to the hospital, according to Suffolk Police.

The accident occurred at a seemingly notorious intersection: the traffic light at Holbrook Road and Express Drive North, where residents say the LIE overpass causes a dangerous blind spot.

Sources say the victims were removed from their vehicles and transported to Stony Brook Hospital in stable condition.

Last May, a 26-year-old woman was killed at this very spot by an alleged drunk driver now standing trial for the woman's death. In the background of this photo by Tom McGrath, the makeshift memorial for the woman, Kristen Iacono, is still visible and regularly updated. Other accidents, not fatal, have occurred at the infamous corner between these two incidents as well.

On our Facebook page, readers remarked at the frequency of crashes here. "There has to be something that can be done about that corner," stated Jenni Lerman. "How many more accidents and deaths before someone decides its time."
