Police Seek Help Finding Driver in Hit-and-Run That Killed Mother

Nearly a year after a Riverhead woman was struck and killed by a car while she was walking on a summer night, Suffolk County Crime Stoppers and the Riverhead Police Department are asking for the public's help to track down the driver of the stolen vehicle that hit her.

On Tuesday, July 16, 2013, the driver of a 2000 Cadillac Deville was traveling east on County Road 58, near Woodcrest Avenue, when he struck and killed Kristina M. Tfelt, a 26-year-old single mother.  The Cadillac was reported stolen minutes after the crash.

After hitting Tflelt, the Cadillac crashed into a retaining wall and came to rest a few feet away on the sidewalk. The driver of the car and a passenger both fled the scene on foot, authorities have said, heading south on Woodcrest Avenue toward Osborn Avenue.
