Ronkonkoma Teen Struck On Nesconset Highway

Teen was trying to cross highway last night at around 11:40 p.m.

A 14-year-old girl from Ronkonkoma is in critical but guarded condition after being struck by a vehicle while attempting to cross a busy intersection in Nesconset last night.

Police say the collision occurred when Natalie Maloney tried to cross Nesconset Highway and Middle Country Road at around 11:40 p.m. on Sunday. Maloney was struck by a 2012 Chevrolet Suburban driven by Domiciano Rubi, 64, of Brentwood.

Maloney was rushed by Nesconset Ambulance to Stony Brook University Medical Center in critical condition. Neither Rubi, nor his passenger was injured in the crash.

The Suburban has been impounded for safety checks and Fourth Squad detectives are investigating the incident. They're asking anyone who might have information about the crash to call (631) 854-8452.
