Ryan, Romney, Akin...Are You Kidding Me?

The recent events in the political race for presidency has reached an all-time low with the remarks made by Todd Akin and Paul Ryan, regarding rape and incest.

"Women are the only oppressed group in our society that lives in intimate
association with their oppressors."  ~Evelyn Cunningham

I have to be honest; I am not one for politics. I don't like anything to do with government, because I, for one, do not believe in its ability to carry out what it seeks to do. I firmly believe that money is the primary goal, and the one with the most of it at the end of the game is the winner. And I think that humans are the pawns in this game, as well. Innocent humans, who break their backs to make this country what it is.

This disgusts me.

What disgusts me even more is that, after all of the years that women have spent, fighting for equality, for everything that Gloria Steinem did, for everything that Helen Gurley Brown did, and for everything that Susan B. Anthony did, and for all the others who fought the good fight, we have three members of our government, who are looking to push the women's movement right into the dark ages.

Are you freaking kidding me?

I have watched women take over corporations from men, and turn the businesses around with blood, sweat and tears, to get things done. I have seen women at home, multitasking, doing things for their children, working full time jobs, and collapsing, exhausted, in their beds, at night, because they have taken on so very much, and are given so very little in return. I have seen women who are pushed around by society, taken advantage of, because others view them as "the weaker sex". And that annoys the living crap out of me, because it simply is not truth.

My heart has gone out to such women, because they work hard, and there is no validation, no glorification, no honor for these women. For that matter, where is the validation, respect and honor for ANY woman? It doesn't matter what we teach our girls anymore, because if Romney and Ryan win, every single thing that we ever fought for is going to be tossed right out the window. Kind of like the baby with the bathwater, only a whole lot worse.

I am not saying that there are not people out there who do not value a woman's rights. But to allow someone as dangerous as Mitt Romney, or his cronies, Ryan and Akin, to make such disparaging comments against women, and then to attempt to hide it, shows the cowardice of such individuals. And we do not need a coward for a president. We need someone who fights for ALL Americans. We have women in the military, we have women who are heads of major corporations, we have women in the Senate, we have women who take on all sorts of responsibilities. Are we going to invalidate them with cowardice? Have a backbone, and stop relying on religious dogma to get your votes, guys. That's not what's going to do it for you, because you know, as well as the rest of us, that once you are voted in, you will not do a damned thing that you promised, anyway. Except take away women's rights. And that scares the hell out of me.

A woman's body is her own. It does not belong to a man. I do not care what anyone has to say about this; the Bible was written by a man. There are some who believe that the Bible was inspired by God, but it was still written by a man. And if you read the passages, you will find that a lot of them correspond with the views of Romney, Akin and Ryan. I am woman, hear me RAR. (Note to editor - this is an acronym for Romney, Akin and Ryan). We are not subservient to men. We are equal, we are helpmates. Nobody is better than anybody else here. We are the same. And the sooner that Romney, Akin and Ryan get it through their thick skulls, the better. Because if they don't shut up and stop speaking out of somewhere other than their mouths, they are going to have quite a revolution to deal with. I, for one, am ready for it. You say you want a revolution? Well, come on. We all want to change the world. (Thank you to John Lennon.)

To uphold a bill that would prevent any abortions is a travesty of justice. While I do not believe that we should take a life, any life, because it is not ours to take, I still believe that a woman should have the ability to make her choice. What is next, Mr. Romney? Do you propose that a woman is not entitled to health care services? Or yearly PAP exams? Or yearly mammograms? Are you trying to make this a man's world? Because, let me tell you, sir, we outnumber you, three to one. Try and pitch your speeches to the public - you will find that you are severely outnumbered. Just because you are a male does not make you stronger, you know.

Mr. Ryan, you supported Mr. Akin when he tried to ban ALL abortions. At what point does it end? At what point does the feminine collective pain body and populous finally say, "ENOUGH!!"? Please do not insult our intelligence by saying you didn't do it; there is more than enough evidence to show that you did in fact support Akin's ideals. Are we heading for Nazi Germany again? Dear God, I fear for this country...

Women have rights. They always did. They are emotionally stronger, physically stronger, and quicker thinkers than men. They are also a hell of a lot less lazy. And they can balance the world on their pinkies, if they should decide to do so. It is this fact that frightens the hell out of people like Romney, Ryan and Akin. "Keep a woman down..." Well, it will be a cold day in Hell before you keep this country's women down. That's all I can say. It is a public outrage to hear the rubbish that is being spewed right now. "Even in the case of rape and incest, a woman should not have an abortion."

Are you kidding me?

Do you, Ryan, Romney and Akin, have any clue what goes through a woman's mind when she is being raped? Do you honest to God think that she wants a memory from that awful experience? Do you think she is not feeling guilty enough, having post traumatic stress disorder from such an experience, that she would like to rid herself of all memory? And you have the audacity to state in your public campaign that you would abolish her right to rid herself of this atrocity? Where in the hell are your morals? There is serious lack of judgment here. You are not getting it. You are completely clueless. My question to you is, how do you look at yourself in the mirror every day, with a clean conscience? I find that to be impossible, given your latest escapades that have been all over the Internet and newspapers all over the world. You are making this country a laughing stock.

How would you like it if someone told you, after you just found out that you had prostate cancer, that the insurance companies are refusing to pay for your prostate surgery and the follow up care, because you are a male? Because you had the nerve to be born with a penis instead of a vagina? Let's see how you would feel, were the situations reversed. Healthcare is a right for EVERYBODY.

You have an awful lot of nerve, telling a nation that is mostly women that you would like to see certain things abolished, such as abortion. I am not saying at all that I believe in killing a fetus. I am a Buddhist, and I believe that all life has the right to be here. But there are certain situations, as in the case of a blighted ovum, where a woman needs to have an abortion, to rid her body of the waste of the toxic cells in her body. If you pass laws to make abortions illegal, is it your intention to reduce the population by wasting womens' lives? I am telling you, if you take away a woman's right to choose, if you take away her inalienable rights as an American as well as a member of the human race, you had better be ready for a fight.

Because I intend to be the leader of this revolution. And I will not back down to you, or to anybody else.

You can take your campaign nonsense and shove it somewhere where the sunlight cannot touch it.

And I can bet my bottom dollar that that for every single word that I wrote in this essay, I will have at least two women in this country to support me. Try and beat those odds, sir. You will have a fight to the finish. Don't expect to win. Because you won't.

And please remember something, Mr. Romney, Ryan and Akin - where would you be without your mother? Would you take away her rights to health care or to choose? Would you take away the rights of your wife, your daughter, your niece, your girlfriend, your sister? Think about that, before you open your mouth and say something that clearly was brought about from Neanderthal thinking.

I've said my piece, and have laid down my gauntlet. Let's see how many out there have the courage to stand and take their place with me.

Suffolk Taxpayer We need to stop taking away benefits for the retired people including insurance and social security benefits for people who have worked their whole lives to and paid into it. It Romney was taxed at the same rate as we we would be able to cure the deficit. I pay 50% of my income and ROmney pays 14%. What is wrong with this picture?

Picture yourself with a better accountant or Ron Paul as President with the flat tax he proposed. But you'll have to rid Washington DC of the back-biting hyena packs first. Maybe the accountant is the most realistic method.

You obviously need a better accountant or you are a total liar. No one with half a brain and a good accountant pays 50% of their earned income in taxes although on LI we pay more in school, town and sales tax than almost any other state. That number will only go up if the Dems and Libs have their way and cave in to the unions and their demands just as Rahman Emanuel did in Chicago where the incompetent and highest paid teachers in the country were given a 17% pay increase and no accountability in a city where the graduation rate is slightly below 60%. Another Chicago politician selling out the taxpayers of that city.

Delusional Patty. Yet your liberal comradettes have no problem protecing Muslim rights in this country including the POTUS, so they can kill, maim and destroy Muslim women? This was another MEDIA/LIB attack on conservatives so the dictator could win another term. No where in the world do woman have more freedom and opportunity than in the US. At least for now.

patty, What does murdering a child in the third term have to do with a womans body being her own? Then for you to throw "God" into your arguement to support your viewpoint? Appalling to say the least. For some reason I know that God does not want women killing innocent children in the womb just 'cause I don't want it! Society as we know it is in a death spiral. Do you really know what Romney's view on abortion rights are or do you just buy into the hype from our corrupt liberal media types?
