On Tuesday the buses rolled out for another school year as the Sachem School District opened its doors from elementary school to both high schools. We tried to take a poll of the emotional state of parents and students heading out the door for the starting bell. The response on our poll wasn't the strongest, but voters ranged in their emotions from "Dread" (75%) to "Sadness" (25%). On Facebook Bronna Cohen Silverman raised a good point. "You need to add "mixed emotions" to be a choice."
Our invitation for parents to send in photos of their little ones heading off to school for the first day, however, generated a nice gallery of more than 25 photos. You can view the , and add to it if you like.
With the start of the school year comes one of the favorite things about fall in Sachem nation: Football! The Sachem North Flaming Arrows are looking to get back to the championship game and they begin their campaign to do so on the road tonight against the Lindenhurst Bulldogs.
Meanwhile, Sachem East will look to build upon a successful season last year with a solid win tonight at home against the Northport Tigers. For our poll question we asked if you thought East would win, or if North would win, or if both would win. The result? You are all a loyal group, as the poll turnout voted unanimously that both teams would get a W.
Patch will have coverage of both games, including photos, so stay tuned, and get your foam fingers out of the attic!
