A little more than two years ago I launched Sachem Patch with the idea of bringing the first local news source to the entire Sachem community. I say confidently now that I succeeded in my ambitious endeavor and enjoyed every second of the journey.
It's with a heavy heart that I inform you, the community, that Friday, March 30 is my last day as editor of Sachem Patch. I have accepted an offer that will allow me to work completely in professional sports within the digital space. I'm excited to embark on a new and challenging opportunity in my life and career.
While I'm no longer the editor of this site, I am still a Sachem alum and plan on being a Sachem resident for the rest of my life. I live and die with this community, bleed its colors and love the people who have made Sachem what it is today. And make no mistake, I will still be very active in the Sachem community.
It is a great and proud honor for me to say I built Sachem Patch from the ground up and made it a constant in many people's lives who have connections to the community, both near and far. I'm proud of the 5,300-plus stories, the 10,500-plus pieces of content, the 5,600-plus followers on social media, the dozen journalism awards, the countless thank you notes and the privilege I had in serving you, the community.
I will continue to be a presence within the Sachem community, so say hi, and feel free to communicate whenever possible. To stay in touch, follow me on Twitter @ChrisVaccaro. I will also be available through email at Chris@Patch.com until Friday evening.
All the best,
Chris R. Vaccaro
