'Life Celebration,' Memorial Set for Former SYAG President

The family of Catherine Huggins, one of the first presidents of the Sachem Youth Athletic Group (SYAG) who died last month, will hold what they are calling a "Life Celebration" in her memory.

According to her son, Bruce Huggins, the event will take place on August 25 at Hecksher State Park. Huggins told Patch last month that the family was planning this event as per Catherine's wishes, once they were in receipt of her ashes.

Catherine Huggins as 74 when she died, a resident of Farmingville for more than 50 years. She first got involved in SYAG after she learned that her volunteer work would allow all her children (six boys) to play for free. on July 18.
