Master Chef Hopeful Survives Another Round

Frank Mirando will live to cook another week.

Stating "this person was able to stay focused in the face of chaos," Master Chef judge Graham Elliot singled out Holtsville native and contestant Frank Mirando as safe to move on to the next round of elimination in the competition.

Mirando joined fellow contestants David Martinez, of Glencoe, IL and Monti Carlo of Los Angeles on the balcony overlooking the "Pressure Test," free from the chopping block.

Mirando and his blue team lost the initial contest to the red team and therefore had to send most members of the team to take part in a timed challenge. Last night the challenge was to successfully plate a chocolate Molten Lava Cake.

Ryan Umane, also from New York, was sent home after his cake melted on the plate. Judge Gordon Ramsey even asked Umane if he had a straw in his back pocket to drink the dessert.

Mirando is now just one of 13 hopefuls left standing to take the prize of Master Chef. Patch will follow the contest and provide updates on the fate of the Holtsville stock broker. Master Chef airs on Monday nights at 9 p.m. on FOX.
