Holbrook Native Memorialized With Philanthropic Donation

Hope for Youth receives check, donations to continue its outreach work.

A Holbrook native whose life was cut short at the age of 26 has lived on in the form of charity funds his family has set up in his name.

This year, the family of Sal Losicco, donated brand new sporting equipment, board games and a check for $750 to Hope for Youth, an Amityville-based nonprofit organization that reaches out to foster children to lend support and stability.

Losicco's family presented the check on what would have been his 30th birthday at the offices of Hope for Youth. Losicco himself spent some of his teenage years in foster care and his family felt he would have supported the donation.

"Hope for Youth is deeply moved and honored to be a part of such a wonderful act of love," said Dr. Hegarty, executive director and CEO of Hope for Youth.

According to the release, Losicco's family chose Hope for Youth after an extensive search to find a charity that would best celebrate and honor his life.
