Update: Sachem East Field Hockey Wins LI, County Championships

Team moves onto the New York State Class A semifinals.

Update Nov. 6, 11:29 p.m.: Sachem East field hockey has also won this year's Long Island championship for the third year in a row Wednesday night. According to Sachem Report, the girls won 6-1 over Massapequa at the Dowling Sports Complex. The team now advances to the New York State Class A semifinals at Cicero-North Syracuse on Nov. 16. Sachem High School East's varsity field hockey team has won their third Suffolk County Class A Championship.

According to Sachem Report, the team won their championship game Saturday against Smithtown East, 3-0, at the Dowling Sports Complex in Brookhaven and will be playing in the Long Island Class A championship Wednesday at 8 p.m.

"We've had to work really hard," the team's coach Tina Moon said to Sachem Report. "We had to take a really experienced group of kids and a younger group of kids and tried to bring them together."

At the game, Taylor Giordano scored two first half goals and Cara Trombetta scored the third goal in the second half.
