Sachem Alum Talks Love Of Science At TedXSBU

Shah speaks about challenges she faced in creating mosquito repellant, and experiences that inspired her into science.

Sachem alum Ruchi Shah's recent talk at TEDxSBU is now streaming on the TEDxTalks Youtube channel.

Shah presented her experience creating a mosquito repellant during high school, for which she ultimately won a $25,000 scholarship last spring for creating.

Shah spoke about challenges she faced in creating the repellant, being supported by her science research teacher as a mentor and her love of science.

"...You can start with a problem, or a question that you have, and through failures and through mistakes and through a brainstorming process you can come up with a tangible product," Shah said during her talk.

Shah's full talk, which clocks in at 10:16, can be viewed on Youtube and in the media gallery of this post.
