Town of Islip's Earth Day Festival Draws Thousands

23rd annual festival held in Sayville on Saturday.

The Town of Islip held its 23rd annual Earth Day celebration at Gillette Park in Sayville on Saturday with thousands of residents participating in the day-long event.

Islip elected officials celebrated the 70th birthday of Keep Islip Clean founder Pamela Raymond, awarded several recycling poster contest winners from area schools, and helped promote the dozens of earth-friendly displays and vendor booths.

Residents who attended the 23rd annual event were able to go home with free trees, free books, and many environmentally-friendly products from various local businesses and eco-friendly vendors.
