A 15-year old Suffolk County student-athlete's life changed when diagnosed with Chronic MyelogenousLeukemia (CML) in January 2010.
CML is relatively uncommon, and rarely seen in children. After a year of treatment heading towards remission, the student developed a rare cellular mutation, untreatable long-term with any drugs currently on the market.
The best potential cure is a bone marrow transplant and donor has not yet been found. Therefore, the family is reaching out for help from the community.
If you are between the ages of 18-60, please attend one of the drives below and become part of the National Bone Marrow Registry. A simple cheek swab is all it takes and you can be identified as a potential match for this child or someone else in need of a life saving transplant.
