The 1st grade team went on the road to notch a win vs. Shoreham-Wading River. The team picked up where they left off with strong teamwork and hustle.
The first half saw goals from Brady Monteleone, and 2 by AJ Torres, while Niko Gentile recorded assists on two of the three goals. Kyle Price was strong at the faceoff ‘x’ winning multiple faceoffs, and Nick Meoni recorded two ground balls. The first half defense was solid. Led by Andrew Macchio, who sacrificed his body to block a shot, and Nick Marotta who made a nice last second stick check to stop a shot on goal. In goal, Aaron Young was strong, making multiple saves including one on a Shoreham breakaway.
Alex Singh led the way in the second half, recording 3 goals and 3 ground balls. Nolan Snyder won a faceoff, which led directly to one of Singh’s goals. The Saints fourth goal of the half was scored by Kyle Price. In goal, Connor Fernandes had another solid half for the team.
The game was another step in the right direction for this growing team.
2nd Grade vs. Bay Shore:
What I can I say, these kids played a great season. SYAG was up 4-1 at halftime. Bayshore started chipping away at the lead during the 2nd half to win the game 9-7. Excellent goaltending by Brandon Pazienza with 11 saves. Peter Ferrizz lead the team with 5 goals and 5gb. JT Arena contributed with another two goals. The defense played a strong game lead by Dalton Lawrence & Shaun Ayers. The coach see' s great things for these kids in the future. With a little hard work they will do great things next year.
The 6th grade team closed out their season with 2 more wins this past weekend against S. Hampton and W. Hampton. Their season was off to a rocky start with a lot of first time players but by the end they all learned a lot and really came together as a team.
