SYAG Lacrosse Weekend Roundup

Scores, highlights, and photos from SYAG Lacrosse's weekend games.

1st Grade vs Sayville:

   SYAG first grade Saints battled Sayville on Saturday. The Saints greatly improved from the first game to this one. The defense was stellar led by Dylan Lalonde(1 goal), Gavin Brooks and AJ Carlo. Matthew Rotolo was outstanding in goal with over 15 saves. The offense was propelled by Zack Marko(4 goals)Nick Trotta(1 goal), James Coramilas, Luke Tiedemann and Justin Silon. The coaches are extremely proud of the boys after this big game.

2nd Grade vs Bayshore (Maroon):

   The 2nd grade boys team fell behind early 4-0 to Bayshore (Maroon).  This team, however does not know the meaning of the word quit.  Strong goaltending, once again, from Matthew McCarthy, as well as great defensive plays by Jason Kassis kept the game close, giving the offense a chance to get back into it.  The team worked the ball on offense, passing the ball around to create opportunities.  The midfield line of Justin Ortiz, Sammy Leonard, and Alex Singh used their speed to create space and opportunities off the pass which led to two goals by Justin Ortiz.  Nick Marotta also scored off a beautiful feed from Cody Suhr.  Frankie Angilly, Jack Kidger, and Tyler Guiliano all made strong plays to win ground balls in order to keep the teams momentum.  In the end, the comeback fell short and the team dropped the game 6-3.  The coaches were proud to see the skills and teamwork that the boys work so hard on in practice paying off on the field

3rd Grade vs Miller Place:

    What a day in the first nice day out side these boys came out the gate flying.  After 3 hard practices and going over play's.  The coaches were very proud of the team to go out and execute the plays and put the ball in the cage.  They played a good Miller Place team but were able to come away with an 11-6 win.  The offense was lead by Pete Ferrizz with 5 goals 2 assist, followed by teammates JT Arena 2 goals/2 assists, Alex Scichilone 2 goals/3assist.   Patrick McHugh scored his first goal of the season.  Dillon Osorio also added a goal and an assist.  There was also some nice plays made by Nick Giorgi and Aaron Singh.
   The defense played outstanding led by Brandon Pazienza in goal who came up with  saves and improved tremendously clearing the ball.  Tylor Gallo, Jake Cronin, Patrick Bell and Shaun Ayers had some very impressive take aways and were able to get the ball back into the sticks of there teammates in the offensive zone.     
   The coaches walked off the field at the end of the day very impressed by the play of these young players.
