SYAG Lacrosse Weekend Roundup

Scores, highlights, and photos from Sachem's SYAG Lacrosse youth boys teams weekend games.

The SYAG 2nd Grade Boys Lacrosse team played a hard fought game on Friday, 4/13, but fell short to Bay Shore by a score of 10-7.  Shaun Ayers played an amazing first half in goal, making 7 big saves.  “For second graders, they moved the ball around pretty good and showed a lot of heart,” said coach Pete Ferrizz.

Goals were scored by JT Arena (2G/2A/3GB), Peter Ferrizz (2G/2GB), Dillon Osorio (1G/1A/2GB), Alex Scichilone (1G/4GB), and Shaun Ayers (1G).

“The defense did a great job. We had a lot of new players step up big in the game and contribute,” said Coach Ferrizz. The team's next game is Sunday, 4/22, 10:30 AM at Seneca Middle School.

On Saturday, 4/14, the SYAG Lacrosse 1st grade team played their first game of the season.  The team played a strong game, getting goals from AJ Torres, Matthew McCarthy, Alex Singh, and Jeremiah Slaven.  Aaron Young and Matthew McCarthy both put in solid performances in net making several saves each.  The team played outstanding defense, and moved the ball well on offense.  If the team continues to play with the hustle and heart they displayed in game 1, they will have a very successful and rewarding season.

A zero budget is not even necessary for this tremendous problem. Even with the 3.14 budget, thisRead More scenario exists. The classes will be in the thirties next year in the secondary schools. I heard the classes will have at least 35 kids in them next year because of all of the teacher excessing. It would be even worse if there is a zero budget, but the problem already exists.

It's very possible Mark, and you're right, it's already a problem because of the cuts made to get toRead More this tax cap budget. It will be a complete disaster if the budget fails.

My kids do not have Mr. Hinkaty, but I know his name well from many others. He is a favorite ofRead More many, many students. I hope for the sake of Sachem something changes over the summer and they can find a way to keep him here. Whatever district ends up with that teacher will find that they have struck gold. We wish you the best, Mr. Hinkaty. I hope we can keep you here!
