     Holiday Harmonies for Hurricane Help!

The Long Island Flute Club is pleased to continue it’s tradition of presenting our annual Holiday Concerts.  Once again the Flute Club will be presenting two concerts, one at each end of our Long Island community.  Both concerts will feature a variety of seasonal classics that are guaranteed to put you in the spirit of the season. The sixteen member Flute Ensemble will feature all members of the flute family from piccolo to bass flute.  The ensemble, directed by Lauren Osnato will play a variety of festive classics such as “The Nutcracker Suite” and “A Christmas Overture” to “Parade of the Wooden Soldiers” and “Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer”.  It’s a holiday celebration for children of all ages!

Our Suffolk County concert will be Saturday, December 1, 2012 at 3:00pm at the United Methodist Church of Lake Ronkonkoma.  This is the seventh year the Flute Club will be presenting a holiday concert at this charming church in Lake Ronkonkoma.  The picturesque church is located at 792 Hawkins Avenue, in Lake Grove.  The concert is free of charge.  In the spirit of the holiday season, we will be taking up a collection to donate to Hurricane Sandy Relief Funds.

The Holiday Flute Choir is made up of members of the Long Island Flute Club.  This group is made up of a mixture of adults and teens from all over Long Island who play at an advanced level.   They are professional players, teachers and students who all love the flute and enjoy sharing music.  The members of the 2012 Holiday Flute Choir are:  Lauren Osnato – Conductor, of  Massapequa, Michele Aweh of Setauket,  Maria DiNatale Scotto of Port Washington, Rachel and Sarah Ferrante of Center Moriches, Danielle Ienna of Garden City, Debra Kalabza of Smithtown, Amy Kempton of Glen Head, Charlotte Loake of Levittown, Grace Michinovicz of Rockville Centre, Frances Piazza of Islip, Christine Perri of Holbrook, Melanie Scalice of Hicksville, Deborah Schild of St. James, Danielle Schulman of Shirley, Kathy Solomowitz of Huntington, Edna Susman of Kings Park, Sarah Umstadt of Seaford and Sandra Vigliotti of Westbury

We hope to be able to help those who are in need after the hurricane get back on their feet.  We look forward to celebrating the season with all of you!

The Long Island Flute Club is a member club of the National Flute Association. In 2009 the club is celebrating it’s 25th Anniversary of enriching the musical lives of flutists in the greater New York area.  Serving both professionals and students, the club offers a diverse calendar of events each season. The acclaimed LIFC concert series has become an integral part of the Long Island arts scene, attracting an audience of flutists and the general public
