Woman Killed In Holbrook Crash

Queens couple collided with disabled vehicle parked on the shoulder of the LIE.

Suffolk County Police Sixth Squad detectives are investigating a motor vehicle crash that killed a Queens woman on the LIE in Holbrook on Sunday morning. 

According to police Matthew Polashek, 33, was driving westbound on the LIE between Exits 61 and 62 with his wife, Stacie, when the vehicle veered onto the right shoulder and collided with a disabled Dodge pickup truck that was parked on the shoulder of the highway.

Stacie Polashek, 33, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Suffolk County Medical Examiner's office. Matthew Polashek, of Ridgewood, was transported to Stony Brook University Medical Center and treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

The disabled Dodge was unoccupied at the time of the crash. Both vehicles were impounded for safety checks, according to police, and the investigation is continuing. Detectives are asking anyone who might have witnessed the crash to call (631) 854-8652.
