The Sachem North Varsity football team unfurled its 2013 Long Island Championship banner in front of an all-Sachem crowd on Dec. 9 in the high school gymnasium at North.
The ceremony took place at halftime of the Boy's Basketball matchup between Sachem North and Sachem East.
Sachem East defeated North 78-47 as Jesse Condon and Danny Wolff combined for 42 points on the night.
Captains on the North football squad led the charge in pulling down the white curtain obscuring the banner. It took a couple tries but when the spotlight fell on the banner the crowd went wild, singing the Sachem victory song as it played over the speakers.
