Vote Tuesday for the Annual Library Budget and Trustee Election

Board proposes growth through reallocation of funds.

Make sure to hit up the Sachem Public Library Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. to vote for the library's budget and trustees who are running.

Here are some things to keep in mind:

-The proposed increase in the budget incorporates the Library's new garden extension for warm weather programs, and for implementation of RFID technology. (Patch will be reporting on this addition soon.)

-In the election: Diane Longo, a trustee at the library for 10 years, is running unopposed for reelection to a 5-year term. Longo is a member of the Suffolk County Boy Scots and the Lake Ronkonkoma Civic Organiation. She is currently employed as a school media specialist with the Brentwood Union Free School District. During her tenure as a Library Trustee, Longo has held the offices of President, Vice-President and Secretary. "The Library has enriched my life in so many ways, it has been wonderful for me to witness Sachem Public Library grow into the amazing institution it is today," she said in a statement. "It has been, both an honor and a pleasure, to work with the dedicated administration and staff to ensure that many more lives are enriched.
I look forward to serving as your Trustee for the next five years."

-How can you vote? You must be at least 18 years old, registered to vote and a resident of the Sachem Library District.
