A look at some of the programs offered this week at the Sachem Public Library.

This week take some time to check out some of what the Sachem Public Library has to offer in its community rooms by registering for these and other programs.

Monday, June 3
Long Island Wetlands; 7-8:30 p.m. 
Description: Long Island is blessed with thousands of acres of beautiful wetlands. These areas dominated by grasses and other marsh plants provide a saltwater habitat for fish and other animals. Wildlife educator Sue Krause will talk about the importance of the wetlands in our daily lives and explain how we can help protect them. You’ll hear about Stony Brook Harbor as well as other spots around Long Island you may want to visit this summer.

Wednesday, June 5
Film: The Intouchables; 1:30 p.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Description: In this award-winning film based on a true story, a young man just out of prison is hired by a French millionaire quadriplegic to be his caretaker, beginning an unlikely friendship. French with English subtitles. Directed by Olivier Nakache and Eric Toledano. Starring Francois Cluzet, Omar Sy. (2011, R-1:52)

Friday, June 7
Ballroom Dancing: Cha-Cha; 7:30 p.m. - 9 p.m.
Description: Originally called the cha-cha-cha, this dance with strong African and Cuban rhythms evolved from the mambo and rumba in the 1950s. Instructor Kelly Ficarra of Rhythms & Soul Dance Studio will teach you how to cha-cha with style.
